The world’s biggest trout are said to be found in the rivers in Northern Mongolia. Trout species as big as 5 feet can be found there. The place is said to be one of the remotest waters on earth, yet fishermen from around the world travel for miles and spend thousands of dollars just to enjoy the excitement of fishing one of the largest freshwater fish that ever existed – the hucho taimen. The largest ever caught here measured 6 feet. And because of it size and large mouth, it is a natural predator, with the instinct of eating anything that comes along its path. Taimen is also known as a favorite game fish, especially for fly fishing activities, and because of this, the hucho taimen has become almost extinct in this part of the world because of incessant fishing.
